    Greetings all,

    It's been quite a while since we looked at salt bags here, so I'll show you this mixed-technique bag that we acquired many years ago. The flatweave and brocade are classic Bakhtiari work; the pile edge on the bottom is a feature also seen in some Kurdish work.

    Back, with the bright indigo blue that makes Bakhtiari work special:



    There is a nice green as well, not so easy to see from a distance:



    The finish selvage is goat hair:



    The piled section at the bottom:



    Symmetrical knotting for the pile:



    The sides have multicolord bands of selvage which are then covered over with the goat hair, securing front to back:

    Very nice graphics. I really appreciate these utilitarian pieces; they are undervalued imo.
