The long decorative hanging fringe tassels on the bottom actually have a complex way of securing them. It’s very unusual and was difficult to figure out. I have no idea how she did it though. She explained it to me but it went over my head.

The fringe is basically the long ends of uncut knots. I don't doubt your wife but thought the answer might interest some readers.

Torba fringes?
I am curious if anyone knows how the fringes on Torba’s we’re secured on the bottom sections and/or how they were tied. There is a small hump that protrudes outward from the start of the fringe from the torba. The fringe I am referring to are on the narrower torbas that travel the complete bottom from side to side. I am looking to repair an older piece that is missing parts of the fringes.
I have included a generic picture found online as an example.
