On a closer reading of the literature, I think you're right. The defining distinction between the "ak" and "kizyl" versions of this large bag is whether the elem has a white ground or not. I wasn't fully conscious of that when I asked Steve to put up this Kyrghyz (Kirghiz) image. This means that this piece clearly falls on the kizil side. It also suggests that the two smaller bags that Steve has up here are also on the kizyl side, although one of them has considerable white in its elem. This kind of conversation is likely one reason some folks call us "Turkomaniacs."
