I am linking an image of a late 17th century quasi mogul fragment. Jon Thompson described this fragment as a lower quality Mogul carpet. This piece has a border which I believe is essentially the same as the Meyer-Muller example. The Zorostrian influence in the "flame palmets" could as easily be seen as the stylized center of a traditional tanka. I have no idea what the technical data indicates and wheather or not this idea has any merit based on those grounds but on appearance alone the design seems to be an adaptation of a Turkestan? design. I think the border similarites bear on this. Jim Allen
