Hi, to all

Just started reading this book, it gives a nice and small insight sometimes in the peculiarities of the weaving, by the women about, patterns, skewed rugs, and inter tribal relations.

Best, Egbert

Hi Egbert,

When you're done, you might also enjoy this one - copies are available in print and online.

Egbert,

Well, while we're on the topic of books written by direct observers, here's another, on the Baluch of the Sarhad region:

Black Tents of Baluchistan, by Philip C Salzman, ISBN 156098810X

from the Smithsonian Series in Ethnographic Inquiry

Chuck

There's also:

Lords of the Mountains: Southern Persia and The Kashkai Tribe
by
Ullens de Schooten, Marie Therese, 1956
Secondary title - Southern Persia and the Kashkai Tribe

Quite a few photos, some in colour, of the tribe (and archaeological sights).

It's decades since I read it, but I seem to recall it was good.
