Default Rug Societies

Hi Phil.

To supplement Steve's general recommendation of browsing the Turkotek Links page, let me encourage you more particularly to check out R. John Howe: Textiles and Text (reports on the Textile Museum's Rug and Textile Appreciation presentations: https://rjohnhowe.wordpress.com) and the rug society websites (esp. Goteborg, SFBARS, International Hajji Babas, Hajji Baba Club and New England Rug Society) listed there.

Since it's my home society, and I don't think it's immodest to point out how rich the site is in both information and images, let me put in a plug for the NE Rug Society website (http://www.ne-rugsociety.org/). Of particular interest are links to the Gallery, with images and text from six exhibitions (http://www.ne-rugsociety.org/gallery.htm) and archived copies of the Society's newsletter, "View from the Fringe", with detailed accounts of speakers' presentations and lots of accompanying images going back to the 2001-2002 season (http://www.ne-rugsociety.org/newslett.htm). If you can't make it all the way to New England to attend the meeting, it's the next best thing.
